Lectures and slide case presentations will demonstrate the practical application of art therapy with those who have been victims or witnessed acts of violence, accidents, physical and sexual abuse, and those who have experienced loss. In workshops and extended trainings, non-threatening experimentation with art medial will introduce techniques to facilitate expression using art and imagery as healing methods. No prior art training is required.
All workshops are
limited to 10 participants to offer a unique, intensive training
opportunity. Workshops are designed to offer a variety of
learning opportunities for beginning and advanced level art
therapists and other master level mental health professionals.
A workshop day includes:
CE Credits: Workshops are co-sponsored by R. Cassidy Seminars in Santa Rosa and CE credits are available for all courses for the following professionals: MFT’s and LCSW’s – approved by the BBS. Provider #PEC 418 APA – R. Cassidy Seminars is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. R. Cassidy Seminars maintains responsibility for the program. This certification is recognized for continuing education for California Psychologists beginning Jan. 1, 2002, CMCHC’s, LMHC’s Marriage Counselors, Social Workers and Psychologists in Washington, Oregon and Colorado.

This two-day workshop is just before the 2010 American Art Therapy Association Conference in Sacramento November 3-7, 2010. The Art Therapy Institute of the Redwoods is a 2.5 hour drive from the Sacramento International Airport, located near mountains, Redwood trees, the Pacific Ocean (1.5 hour drive), and is surrounded by vineyards, lakes and rivers. The Art Therapy Institute offers a restful and rejuvenating environment in a spacious studio setting.
Dr. Wadeson is one of the pioneers of the modern profession of art therapy, and began her art therapy career at the National Institute of Mental Health, taught at the University of Houston, and established the Art Therapy Graduate Program and Annual Summer Institute at University of Illinois in Chicago, where she taught and directed the program for 23 years. Harriet is an international guest faculty at training programs throughout the world, published 6 books on art therapy, chapters in text books, and 70 peer reviewed paper. She has served AATA for many years, and is an Honorary Life Member of AATA, the profession's highest honor. Currently, Harriet heads a post-graduate art therapy program at Northwestern University. She has won numerous awards including a Resolution of Commendation from the State of Illinois, the Rush award from the American Psychiatric Association. Harriet has won numerous awards for her art, including a First Prize from the Smithsonian Institute. She is revising her first book, Art Psychotherapy, and has written 2 novels.
