Today’s mental health system presents enormous challenges to both administrative staff and clinical staff in the work they both do. The demands of administrative and clinical staff can create conflict, distrust, and adversarial working relationships, and erroneous assumptions. This day long workshop is designed for agencies as a new way to approach the problems that occur when agencies or groups of providers are experiencing difficulty working as a team. Beginning with a keynote address, the day includes safe and fun art experiences designed for team building, renewal and change. Through the art directives, new creative solutions emerge for a collaborative approach to problem solving and serving the children and families in need.

The workshop is facilitated at or near the agency to maximize attendance of the agency administrative and clinical staff.

Objectives:

Those attending will:

1. Define and describe the current mental health system and the inherent difficulties in working in that system.
2. Learn creative ways of problem solving and team building.
3. Experience a new sense of understanding and hope about mental health work and the mental health system.
